The family which baffles the world

Between 9-10pm on a Mothering Sunday evening, millions turned their attentions to Louis Theroux and his journey with the Phelps family. Both Theroux and the family have been trending on Twitter, many are angry by the Phelps.

We and Theroux last met the family five years ago. The family had opinions which are beyond people's belief. They suffered from homophobia, they were very religious and had strict viewpoints on the value of family life.

Aren't people like that in general? I mean, there are people who dislike gays and lesbians, there are people who consider themselves as religious and some have family values which are different to others. What's the problem?

The problem is how they live with themselves. They go to soldier's funerals who have served their country after wars (which were unnecessary, yes) and say that God is laughing and that they deserved today. And they supported the roadside bombs which killed the troops. I don't know about you but that is evil and rude.

They also say that the soldiers are gay. Just because they don't believe in your viewpoints, it does not mean they're homosexual!

They believe in heaven and hell, as like a lot of religious people. But they say if you don't believe in their point of views, you go to hell. Wow. So basically, only thirty people will go to heaven. Where is Princess Diana then? Oh yeah, I almost forgot - five years ago when Louis Theroux met the family, they had a placard calling her a "whore" and she's in hell apparently.

Are they talking about the Diana we all love and cherish in Britain? I mean that had me gob-smacked. Absolutely shocking. Everybody likes Princess Di. If you dislike any part of her, you're not human, surely?

Another thing which gets me speechless - their family values. Basically, if you break even one rule you're out of the family regardless. One family member was kicked out of their lives by just wearing a bikini in a holiday in Puerto Rico. She has not spoken to her family since because they refuse to and say to her that she is going to hell. She has been brainwashed for years and she still believes that she will go to hell because of her sins of being neglected by her family.

The other girl which was kicked out by the family because she wanted a man. Yes, they don't allow boyfriends or girlfriends or even dates! Freedom faltered perhaps? Their parents had loads of kids, what's stopping their kids going to the coffee shop to have a date.

The brainwashing is ridiculous. There are young children who don't even know what they are doing by churches protesting against the dead but are forced to do so. Just imagine if they were against their parent's religion and were out of the family's life at just seven years old? Disgusting.

Louis Theroux was as shocked as anyone else. I have to praise his professionalism. He's a superb journalist. He risks his life after every questions he asks anyone in his programmes. He has interviewed Zionists and is still alive by asking them questions which test their patience. That takes a lot of experience and it shows that he thrives on challenges.

If I was him and hanged out with that family, I'd either cry or walkout and never even think about seeing or thinking about them again because they offended millions of people and they don't seem to care.

It even says a lot when even Fox News dislikes them, branding them as "disgrace to the country". Astonishing.

Now isn't the time to choose a favourite baddie

Donald Trump and Benyamin Netanyahu (Image: Financial Times) I have been rather reflective of late. The global news agenda is dominated by powerful people doing unimaginably awful things, or at least capable of doing so - and they are seemingly given a free pass, having their evil justified, trying to find a reason why their actions aren't that bad compared to the 'other side'. And this is driving me absolutely mad. The less I hear from Benyamin Netanyahu, Donald Trump, Nigel Farage and others, the better this world will be. Here we have, at least three cunning maniacs, at it for their personal gain to dominate countries, nationalities and ideologies. Farage has no power, but he is being tipped to be the next UK Prime Minister , for no good reason at all. He gets a few votes from those bored of a Labour government, and critics start getting giddy. Trump thinks of himself as a puppet master, and through his crippling tariffs and mafia-like tactics, is sending his country an...

The 'cancel culture' myth

Let's cancel the term 'cancel culture' once and for all (Image: Fox News) In recent months, we have seen the UK's Supreme Court declare ' what a woman is ', the rise of the 'far right' in the United States and larger parts of Europe and the centre-left being accused of echoing words which were deemed unacceptable the day before. These stories as isolated items don't seem a big deal but, through their individual merits, have become significant societal shifts. That's largely thanks to the campaign groups who led them. For a long time, they have been playing cry wolf, sharing viral sop stories about how their 'plight' has resulted them being on the verge of 'losing everything', including relevance. With victories heading their way, and their crocodile tears turning into money eyes, it is fair to say that 'cancel culture' is officially over. Let's be honest, 'cancel culture' never existed. The myth has brainwashe...

Done right, digital IDs can save lives

Sir Keir Starmer has a challenge to convince people over digital ID plans (Image: The Guardian) If we're to treat survey results as gospel, I find myself in the minority on a big debate. It appears I am one of the very few in support of a 'digital ID' . It had taken me a while to come to this conclusion as, since the idea was explored under Tony Blair's government in 2005, I really wasn't sure what the point of the concept was. But 18 years later, I feel that an identification of some digital kind is necessary, and potentially lifesaving, as I'll explain here. The digital ID has been brought into the British political limelight again thanks to Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer. He wants to bring them in on a mandatory basis, as a way of proving we have a right to work in the UK. It forms part of his cunning plan to halt illegal migration and illegal labour - similar schemes are already in place abroad and are said to be doing well. According to a government pres...
